Terms & Conditions

The outlined service agreement details are what is included in the fee. In some circumstances there may be additional costs, however this will be discussed prior to an agreement being made.

The service agreement includes:

  • An initial non-obligatory meeting in which we get to meet each other, discuss your ideas so far, go over the legal process involved, and the service and resources on offer. We can arrange to meet in person, or via Zoom.

  • Your date will be held for 1 week after our initial meeting, and if another enquiry is received within this time, you will be contacted before any further commitments are made.

  • Once you agree to book my service, you will be asked for the ‘Booking Confirmation’ form to be filled out, along with a non-refundable deposit. Your ceremony is then officially booked.

  • From there, we will have one or two further meetings to do the legal paperwork and discuss and plan your ceremony. This can be done in person, or via Zoom.

  • A pre-ceremony rehearsal will be scheduled to go over the finer details of your ceremony, and make sure you are comfortable, relaxed, and prepared for your day. This is preferable at the location of your ceremony, however if this is not possible, we can also do this via Zoom. We will discuss these options at our initial meeting.

  • You can choose from either a personalised ceremony, or a prewritten ceremony. Both options and fees will be discussed with you in detail at the initial meeting.

  • A personalised ceremony is one which is written for you, and with you. You have complete choice in how you want to structure your ceremony (around the legal components).

  • You will be provided with resources to help plan your ceremony, including readings / poems / rituals / vows / examples of ceremonies, and more. Please note that ceremonial props are not provided (candles / sand / cords etc), however places will be recommended as to where you can purchase these.

  • In the planning of your ceremony, you will have my unlimited contact either via phone or email.

  • Please know you will have a response to any correspondence within a 24hr period. In the event this may not be possible in the week leading up to your ceremony, you will be notified.

  • You will be provided with drafts of the ceremony, and you can make changes as much as you like, until you have confirmed that you are happy with the final script.

  • You are agreeing to pay my fee in accordance with the invoice provided. Fees need to be made by direct deposit to my nominated bank account, no less than 4 weeks prior to the ceremony date.

  • If full payment has not been made in accordance with these terms, then I will not attend the ceremony.

  • You are advised to notify immediately in writing of any change to the date, time or place of the ceremony.

  • I reserve the right to terminate the agreement and retain any funds received should I be unable to conduct the ceremony due to the change of date, time or place of the ceremony.

  • If the ceremony is cancelled by you before full payment is made, any monies paid other than the deposit will be refunded within five (5) business days, excluding an additional $220 if the ceremony draft has been reviewed by you or emailed to you already.

  • If you choose to cancel the ceremony once full payment has been made no monies will be refunded unless there are extreme circumstances.

  • You agree to provide accurate information and acknowledge that the penalty for making a false declaration is four years imprisonment.

  • On the day of your ceremony, I will arrive at the venue at least an hour prior to the ceremony, if appropriate.

  • You agree to not arrive at the ceremony appearing to be inebriated or under the influence of any other substance. I am not lawfully authorised to solemnise the marriage under these circumstances. Judgement as to inebriation of you being under the influence of alcohol or any other substance is at my sole discretion.

  • If either of you have not arrived by 30 minutes after the agreed start time, or if the ceremony cannot proceed for any reason outside of my control, I reserve the right to leave the place of the ceremony without conducting the ceremony.

  • In the event of the above occurrence, we will liaise to mutually agree on a later time and place for the marriage to be solemnised for an extra fee, payable in advance.

  • In the event of the above occurrence, if I remain at the venue and solemnise the marriage, you agree to pay an additional $50 for every 30 minutes delay.

  • The Registered Marriage Celebrant services will be provided in accordance with the code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants.

  • A professional PA system will be provided if needed. Your music can be played through this, and you can delegate one of your guests to control the music. Should any damage happen to the PA system that is not my fault, then you will be charged for any repair or replacement of damaged equipment.

  • Understand that best endeavours will be made to ensure that the PA is fully charged, functional and tested prior to the ceremony. However, you acknowledge that inanimate equipment may malfunction from time to time, and should the PA fail at any time prior to, during or after the ceremony, through no fault of mine, then I will not be held responsible.

  • I will dress appropriately to fit in with your style of ceremony.

  • I take no responsibility for damage to property, personal injury, or disruptive behaviour of the children/guests/the public prior to, during or after the ceremony. The supervision of children attending the ceremony is a matter for the parent/s or carer/s of the children in question.

  • Travel: 40km each way is included in this service. For locations further afar, a $1 per km additional fee will be charged. I am based in Mt Martha VIC, so will work out the travel fee from this location.

  • You will be provided with a decorative copy of your ceremony as a keepsake of your special day.

  • All paperwork will be submitted to the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages and an official marriage certificate will be requested and paid for on your behalf. This is the document required should you wish to change your name.

  • In the unlikely event that I become unwell or am unable to attend your ceremony due to unforeseen circumstances, a replacement Celebrant that can take over in a professional manner, will be found.

  • Any accommodation costs (if needed) will be charged accordingly and discussed prior to any agreement being made.
